Horse Jumping Barn in Gainesville
Archer Farms, LLC
Conveniently located in Jonesville near the town of Tioga, just minutes from UF and Santa Fe Campuses, you’ll find Archer Farms, LLC, a professional Equestrian Farm specializing in jumpers. It’s expansive 45 acres is covered in beautiful Oaks and 19 grassy paddocks. The horse jumping barn in Gainesville, although the largest by far in the area, caters to a smaller private group of students so the trainer and owner, Sharleen Exler, can develop a close bond with each student and spend more personalized time on developing their riding abilities. Sharleen says that’s her favorite part of the job, training students to be their best, finding them the right horses, and keeping everyone safe so that the sport is fun for many years. She has students ranging from 6-72 years old and has programs fit for any level of rider from beginner to Grand Prix.

The facility has 40 stalls, 19 paddocks, a grass jump field, a 150×250 arena with footing, a 60ft round pen with an observation deck, and a regulation 20mX40m mirrored dressage ring. All of the paddocks have irrigation, so grass is adubant year round, the largest paddock is 5 acres.
Each horse at Archer Farms is given a customized turn out and feeding program to optimize their athletic and mental needs. Every horse has their own paddock with 3 board fencing, including their incredibly cute miniature horse, Tatertot, who was a gift to Archer Farms from a local veterinarian’s personal breeding program.
Sharleen Exler, owner and trainer of Archer Farms, has been riding since she was three years old. She has an array of experience in multiple disciplines and believes that bringing this knowledge from other areas of the equestrian sport has contributed to her and her students success. In the early 90’s she lived in Arizona where she trained several different breeds. Some of the horses under her tutelage were awarded USEF Horse of the Year awards in numerous divisions, including USEF Hunter Horse of the Year. She was also the Chef d’Equipe for a friendly International Exchange show in Guatemala two years in a row with a group of her students and has taken students to Germany in the summers to ride and train. Aside from training horses, Sharleen was a vet tech for sixteen years which is the basis of how she runs her current farm. Using her knowledge as a technician she ensures every horse on the property is at top condition for competing including feeding 3 times a day, daily turn out, therapeutic boots after jumping, a Theraplate machine, and more. Archer Farms, LLC has been at is current location for five years now, but was established in Gainesville almost 20 years ago.
Archer Farms, LLC offers full care boarding, full care training, retirement, lessons, and shows competitively. Even with all of the amenities they offer they are competitively priced with other local facilities.
Their current show schedule includes shows like Venice, Tampa, Kentucky, Culpeper and the entire season of HITS located in the secure permanent barns. They’re excited (as we all are!) for the World Equestrian Center to open so they can start showing there as well. There are options for working students to work at Archer Farms, and boarding and training for the goal oriented rider.
